Addict Nurse Struck Off Register, UK

A 40 year old nurse from Hull,
Somerset, has
been struck off the register after being found guilty of stealing medications
to support his drug habit. Phillip Anthony Seabert was working at Drubin Ward, Royal Devon
& Exeter Hospital
when on three occasions between January 2006 and March 2006 he stole
medication, including Codeine and an opioid painkiller called DF118 from the
drug cupboard on Durbin Ward for his own personal use without permission.

A 42 year old registered adult and mental health
nurse from Douglas, Isle of Man, has been
struck off the register for assaulting an elderly patient in his care. Robert
Frederick Pressley was convicted of assault in the Court of Summary Jurisdiction
sitting at Douglas, Isle of Man on 21st January 2006 and was ordered three
months custody suspended for 18 months, costs of £400 and compensation of
£250 or serve 42 days custody in default of payment.
Oncology Nurses Needed For Exercise Knowledge Study

Oncology nurses are needed to participate in a
research study at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing to determine
the effectiveness of continuing education programs on oncology nurses'
knowledge of and confidence in recommending exercise to women with breast
cancer. Knowledge gained from this study will be used to determine if online
education is a useful method of providing continuing education to oncology
nurses.

NMC And Healthcare Commission To Strengthen Public Safety, UK

the Healthcare Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
strengthening public protection where nurses and midwives are involved. The
agreement sets out the levels of cooperation and terms in which the NMC and the

Paul Wilson has been elected to the Nursing
& Midwifery Council's (NMC) governing body as the new alternate council
member for nurses in Scotland.
Hailing from West Calder, Paul is currently the Director of Nursing in
Lanarkshire - Scotland's
fourth largest Health Board. He has had extensive leadership experience within
the Scottish Health Service and was also the Director for NHS Trusts in Scotland's
civil service.
