Overview The aim is that NHS Professionals will be used by all NHS organisations as the primary supplier of all temporary staffing requirements for the NHS with, as and when necessary, tight contracts agreed with commercial agencies to meet any surplus demand. The advantages for staff of working with NHS Professionals are: Being able to work flexibly to suit their circumstances (which commercial agencies can provide as well) Nationally agreed rates of pay with flexibility to take account of local labour market variations Fair pay for the level of work being undertaken, including compensation payments for work cancelled at short notice, weekly payments, and paid annual leave Membership of the NHS Pension scheme – benefits include life assurance, ill-health retirement and financial support on retirement – worth overall around 21% of average pay Healthcare staff may work solely through NHS Professionals or in combination with other employment/s within the NHS.
